Snapshots from Study Abroad Experiences
In partnership with the VCU Global Education Office, VCU Libraries presents “Study Abroad Snapshots,” an exhibit on the Cabell Screen. These photos were taken by VCU students during their experiences abroad over the last year.
Images in the exhibit:
- Noah Amiri, São João Da Barra Atafona, Brazil: “An island where we were educated by a local wildlife organization.”
- Noah Amiri, São João Da Barra Atafona, Brazil: “The American and Brazilian students took one last photo together.”
- Jasmine Hana Reed, Rome, Italy: “Me in front of the famous amphitheater in Rome (Roma Colosseo). The weekend my friend and I visited Rome was actually the weekend of Pope Francis’s death. A very historic, once-in-a-lifetime event!” (photo credit: Allyson Kane)
- Jasmine Hana Reed, Naples, Italy: “Me feeding a cow. We were able to visit a buffalo farm as one of our school field trips. There, we learned how to make buffalo mozzarella, yum!” (photo credit: Justine Gilbert)
- Meg Stallard, Seoul, South Korea: “Lanterns hung at a temple in honor of the Buddha’s birthday.”
- Bri Stevens, Pau, France: “My friend Jade from China was in my lesbian short film.”
- Meg Stallard, Jiufen, Taiwan: “A tea house in Jiufen, Taiwan. This specific tea house is famous for its resemblance to the Ghibli film Spirited Away.”

- Jasmine Hana Reed, Venice, Italy: “Me and my 2 roommates from Sant’Anna eating an Italian dinner. This was a weekend where we visited Venice, Italy. It was such an extravagant and beautiful place, almost out of a storybook! I tried squid ink pasta and it was so delicious!” (photo credit to a random waiter in Venice!)
- Marisa Gottschalk, Florence, Italy: “One of the first meals I had in Italy.”
- Bri Stevens, the Pyrenees Mountains, France: “I hiked a mountain in the Pyrenees, and this was the view at the top.”
- Meg Stallard, Seoul, South Korea: “My friends and I wearing hanboks at a palace in Seoul.”
- Marisa Gottschalkin, Florence, Italy: “Outside my roommates and I’s apartment towards the city center of Florence. We would see the same few street performers outside our window every week. It amused me how nearly everybody who walked past the tightrope walker would avoid going right underneath him.”
- Marisa Gottschalkin, Florence, Italy: “The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, also called the Florence Cathedral or Duomo di Firenze. This is one of the first photos I took after we all arrived, and I walked around the city on my own.”
- Shaeley Lincoln, Viareggio, Italy: “My roommates and I took a day trip in Italy to see the Carnevale di Viareggio 2025 parade!”
- Shaeley Lincoln, the Amalfi Coast, Italy: “My family and I took a trip along the Amalfi Coast!”
- Shaeley Lincoln, Morocco: “My roommates and I spent our spring break in Morocco! We were able to take a close look at all the monkeys.”
