Showing through summer.

Emanata, a comics anthology, was started by illustrator and comics artist Chris Kindred in 2014 with Weird, Vol. 1.

Emanata is a student-run publication dedicated to encouraging the comics community at VCU and the greater Richmond area by providing avenues for students and alumni to publish their work in an anthology. The staff of Emanata works with contributors to amplify their skills through a personal one-on-one editorial process. It is a registered organization under the VCU Student Media Center, publishing an anthology annually online as well as in print. Emanata distributes its print editions on the VCU campus and at conferences and stores in the Richmond area and at the annual Small Press Expo in Bethesda, Md.

This year Vol. 5, Help!, was released on April 6 in the Depot, and features cover art by Chris Kindred in honor of its five year anniversary. Emanata has a four stage editorial/submissions process beginning with script submissions. The process begins each November and VCU students, alumni and faculty are welcome to submit. VCU Libraries underwrites the cover design so that the student publication can pay an alumni illustrator a small honorarium for the work.
