Art Foundation students competed this fall for the first time to create GIFs to show on the Big Screen. Works by 15 students were selected by a faculty committee to share with the VCU community.

Within the VCU School of the Arts, Arts Foundation, widely known as AFO, is the introductory program for first-year design and fine arts undergraduates.

The show is composed entirely of GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format), which are short, often animated images that can loop indefinitely and do not include sound.  Students created lively GIFs specifically suited for display on the Big Screen. Works were submitted by students and chosen by a curatorial committee for the screen. The students’ pieces, in order of appearance, are by:

  • Karly Andersen
  • Jeffrey Belfield
  • Tyrell Boyd
  • Byron Edge
  • Claire Evans
  • Lauren Hanapole
  • Jonah Koppel
  • Abigail Linetecum
  • Megan Rogers
  • Skylar Shannon
  • Ji Soo Shin
  • Bricet Sosa
  • Gabrielle Stadulis
  • Elizabeth Treese
  • Demetrius Weaver
