Announcing VCU’s signature AI+ initiative and faculty survey
Dear Colleagues,
The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce the pending launch of VCU’s signature university-wide artificial intelligence initiative: Convergence Labs @ VCU for AI+.
What it is
This initiative will position VCU to play to our strengths with a special focus on applied AI for the public good. It will be coordinated from the Provost’s Office as university level and university-wide efforts. The initiative will focus on research and learning as well as related course offerings/programs.
When is the launch
The kick-off faculty convening will be Wednesday, April 10th, 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at the VCU College of Humanities and Sciences STEM Building.
Survey for faculty
To help us prepare, kindly distribute this brief survey to all full-time VCU faculty. The survey will provide us with information to prepare for the launch and vision steps to move forward.

P.S. – The larger vision is for VCU to have multiple Convergence Labs in different domains. Another example is the Department of Defense-funded initiative in the VCU College of Engineering. We are working collaboratively to expand the Convergence Labs idea into other domains as well. A website will follow soon.
