From new faces to fond farewells, here’s what’s been happening recently across Finance and Administration teams!
Financial Reporting: Dessi Vetter has joined the Controller’s Office leadership team in as associate controller, managing the Financial Reporting team.
Data Systems: Business analyst Karen Lamb will be retiring at the end of 2025. Karen has been with VCU for 38 years, and is an integral member of the Controller’s Office team, wearing many hats and providing support for background operations such as the Controller’s Office website, Finance system training, overseeing the VCU Reporting Center and dashboard, and managing many of our data systems. Samsam Ali will be taking over for Karen Lamb beginning in November 2025. A position search to hire a Senior Cost Analyst has recently concluded.
Fixed Assets: The VCU Fixed Assets team has been expanding. Ileyn Gomez Soteli was brought on as Director of Fixed Assets, and Sherria Anderson and Cinthia Campos Garcia were recently added to the Fixed Assets team to provide support for VCU’s asset tracking and management. Hiring is ongoing for student workers to provide support to the program.
Internal Controls / ARMICS: Patrick Andrews began with the team in summer of 2025 as ARMICS program coordinator overseeing the university’s internal control standards. Hiring is ongoing to expand support for the Internal Controls program.
Payroll Services: Gertie Smithers joined VCU Payroll Services as Payroll Operations Manager. A detailed list of Payroll contacts may be found here.
Procurement Services: Raegan Gaye joined the Procurement Team as the new Special Projects Manager. She brings over ten years of experience in travel, expense, and procurement operations. Raegan will work across teams to streamline processes and lead the transformation of the Hospitality Category into a Travel Hospitality Program.
Treasury Services: Crystal Evans has joined the Treasury Services, Debt and Investments Team as the New Treasury Specialist.
