Important: Upcoming 10th St. closures; N Deck impacted
In preparation to complete the North Branch steam line project, the intersection of 10th and Leigh streets will be closed to northbound traffic, from February 24 through May 15. This three-month-long closure will shut down all through traffic northbound on 10th St. between East Leigh St. and Turpin St.
To access the N Deck and VCU Child Development Center from Leigh St. (Westbound):
- Westbound traffic on Leigh St., including the childcare center and N Deck subscribers, will follow a detour route along Leigh St. and turn northbound onto N. 9th St.
- Drivers will proceed on 9th St. through the Q Lot, continue right onto Turpin St., and turn left on 10th St. to access the N Deck and childcare center. Child care parking will remain in the Q Lot on 10th St. until completion of the project.
To access the N Deck and VCU Child Development Center from Leigh St. (Eastbound):
- Eastbound traffic on Leigh St. will turn northbound onto N. 4th St., eastbound on Jackson St. and then northbound onto N. 8th St. to access the Duval St. Connector for N Deck and childcare center access.
VCU Police will have units present at Turpin and 10th streets and 9th and Leigh streets during peak traffic hours, Monday through Friday, as needed, to assist with the flow of traffic for the first few days of the closure.
Please be mindful of construction crews as you travel through this area, and use dedicated crosswalks when crossing the street. It may be helpful to incorporate additional time in your commute while this project takes place, as heavy traffic is expected.
