VCU Parking and Transportation

News & information

Dominion Energy work on 11th Street at Sanger Hall is nearing completion. Both travel lanes of 11th St. between Broad and Marshall streets are planned to reopen around the first of October, barring any weather delays.

On Monday, September 16, the sidewalk between 10th St. and the Patient and Visitor’s Deck on Duval St. was closed for a north branch steam line replacement project.  Please use an alternate pedestrian route to travel to your destination.

Additionally, as part of this project, on Thursday, September 26, the southbound lane of Duval Street, between 10th St. and the Visitor’s Parking Deck exit, will be closed to all traffic.

  • N Deck subscribers will still be able to enter and exit the deck as normal, with the exception of  4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. During these hours, subscribers exiting N Deck will be redirected to turn south (left) onto 10th St.

  • D Deck subscribers will be able to enter the deck via Marshall and 13th streets. When exiting D Deck, subscribers will have the option to turn right onto Duval St. or use 13th and Marshall streets.

  • Eighth St. Deck subscribers will be redirected to turn left when exiting the deck during the peak periods of 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Detour signs will be posted to direct drivers of alternate routes. VCU Police will stage at the intersection of Marshall and 13th streets during the morning peak periods and the intersection of Duval and 10th streets during the evening rush hours. VCU Parking and Transportation staff will assist with ingress to and egress from the impacted facilities during peak traffic periods.

All subscribers are encouraged to be mindful of construction crews as you travel through this area, and use dedicated crosswalks. It will be helpful to incorporate additional time in your commute while this project takes place, as heavy traffic in the area is expected. The project is expected to be completed in February 2020.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation. You may view additional traffic updates related to construction on the MCV Campus at www.vcuhealth.org/traffic. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding parking impacts, please contact customer service at 828-PARK (7275).
