VCU Parking and Transportation

News & information

Dear VCU and VCU Health communities,

2019 marks the beginning of the second phase of our pilot program with GRTC. We’re excited to continue serving our VCU community with greater access and alternative means to explore and connect to more areas of Richmond.

Introducing VCU/GRTC GO Passes

In early 2019, we will incorporate the use of VCU/GRTC GO Passes for boarding GRTC buses under our pilot program. These passes will be mailed via U.S. Postal Service in batches, with students receiving passes in the coming weeks. Employees will receive VCU/GRTC GO Passes in early 2019. You will receive an email notification with instructions for usage once your GO Pass has been shipped to your address on record. Upon receipt, riders should begin using this pass in addition to your VCU ID card when riding GRTC.

New Connector Express stops begin Jan. 2

In response to feedback received regarding the Connector Express route announced last week, we will incorporate additional RamRide stops at One Capitol Square and 8th and Main streets. Beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, the Connector Express will now serve the James Branch Cabell Library, One Capitol Square, 8th and Main streets, Sanger Hall and J. Sargeant Reynolds RamRide stops only. RamRide shuttles to the remote parking facilities (A, I, M, R lots) on the MCV Campus will continue to serve these locations as normal.

As a reminder, students and employees of VCU and VCU Health System, including Virginia Premier, receive unlimited transportation access on the GRTC Pulse Bus Rapid Transit and its regular fixed-route bus service (local and express) at no cost to the rider as part of our pilot program. Students and employees are always encouraged to use GRTC’s Pulse and Route 5 for travel between the Monroe Park and MCV campuses.

In the meantime, we encourage you to view GRTC routes and service information online at go.vcu.edu/grtc. If you have questions or concerns regarding the GRTC pilot program or Connector Express, you may contact VCU Parking and Transportation directly at (804) 828-7275 (PARK) or parking@vcu.edu.

Sincerely,

Clayton Harrington III
