June P&T Updates

June 28 – Fall 2017 Parking Sales Begin July 6

We would like to remind you of the dates for the upcoming Fall 2017 parking sales. Sales will begin online at 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 6 for the MCV Campus.  All housing permits (to include off-campus housing permits) will also be available for purchase at this time.

The Monroe Park Campus permit sale will take place at 7 a.m. online on Thursday, July 20.

Due to the large volume of activity on sale days, phone lines and customer service office locations may experience higher than normal traffic.  If you are unable to reach us by phone, we encourage you to send an email to parking@vcu.edu, and a customer service representative will respond promptly.  You may also connect with us through our social media channels at Facebook.com/VCUParking or @VCUParking on Twitter.

Prepare ahead of time
In preparation for the online web sales, please make sure you have the following:

  • A valid VCU eID and password.  Please visit http://go.vcu.edu/eidfinder if you do not know your eID and password.
  • A debit or credit card to make your online purchase
  • The make, model and license plate of all vehicles you may drive to campus
  • A complete address of where your permit will be mailed
  • No outstanding parking citations.  Citations can be paid online at http://www.parking.vcu.edu/parking/citations.
  • Registered for classes.  Students who have not registered by the sale dates will not be able to purchase parking at that time.

Accessing the portal

You may access the parking portal by visiting www.parking.vcu.edu and clicking on the yellow “Manage my Account” button, located in the top right hand corner.  You should then select the “Get Permits” option from the top drop-down menu.  Once logged into the online parking portal, you will be placed into a queue.  Due to the large volume of students accessing the site, please note that you may experience extended wait times.

After your purchase has been completed, you will need to print off the confirmation page, which serves as your temporary parking pass.  You should receive your RFID hangtag in the mail within 7-10 business days.

A list of available parking locations and permit options can be found here: http://www.parking.vcu.edu/parking/students/options-and-rates

In the event the online parking portal experiences technical difficulties on July 6 or July 20, to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to purchase their preferred location, the portal will be deactivated immediately and parking sales will be relaunched on an alternate date.  An alert will be placed at the top of the portal if this deactivation occurs.  Additionally, notifications will be sent via email as well as posted on the VCU Parking and Transportation Facebook and Twitter channels.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding either parking sale, feel free to contact customer service at 828-PARK (7275).

June 27 –  RamRide Not in Service on July 4

On Tuesday, July 4 (Independence Day) RamRide will not be in service.  Please note, this includes the Campus Connector, A Lot, I Lot and M/R Lot shuttles.

Due to the shuttles discontinuing service, all A Lot, I Lot, M Lot, R Lot and RTD Deck employees will be permitted to park on the D Deck, located at 515 N. 13 Street, on July 4.

RamRide will resume its normal schedule on Wednesday, July 5.

June 20 – I Lot Shuttle Discontinues Service to Sanger Hall July 3

In efforts to reduce traffic congestion at Sanger Hall and create a safer passenger experience, the I Lot shuttle will discontinue service to the Sanger Hall stop, effective Monday, July 3.

Beginning July 3, I Lot passengers who normally utilize the Sanger Hall stop should proceed to McGuire Hall. The McGuire Hall stop is located at the intersection of Clay and N. 11 streets.

We encourage you to track the status of RamRide in real time by visiting vcu.transloc.com or downloading the VCU Mobile “RamRide” app.

New Parking Rates Effective July 1

As you may be aware, in May, Virginia Commonwealth University’s Board of Visitors approved a new budget for the upcoming 2017-18 fiscal year.  Within this newly adopted budget is a three percent increase for student and employee parking rates.

You may view the new rate chart here: http://apps.parking.vcu.edu/docs/rates_fy1718.pdf.

These new rates will take effect on July 1, 2017.  All VCUHealth employee deductions will be applied on the July 28 payroll and VCU employees on August 1.

June 19 – RTD Deck Closed for Caulking June 24-25

On Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25, the RTD Deck will be closed for caulking.  We ask that you remove your vehicle from the facility during these times.
