November 29 – Spring 2017 Parking Sales – Update

VCU Parking and Transportation strives to serve our campus community by providing the best possible parking options to support our student, faculty and staff needs while efficiently and effectively managing an oftentimes limited parking inventory.

We have recognized a considerable need for a segment of students to have the ability to access their parking facility outside of the standard 7am- 2am commuter permit time schedule due to ongoing educational commitments.  To help fulfill this need, for the upcoming Spring 2017 parking sale, we will offer a new parking permit, to be sold at $364.00, which will provide commuters with 24-hour access into the Eighth Street Deck on the MCV Campus or the West Cary Street Deck on the Monroe Park Campus.  A limited number of these 24-hour commuter permits will be sold online, and should accommodate those students who often require early/late-night access to the parking facility for clinical rotations, laboratory work, school projects, etc.

Please note, we will continue to sell the standard commuter permit, which offers parking in one’s designated facility from 7am-2am, Monday-Friday, and unrestricted lots on the weekend, as well as the 24-hour housing permit in the Bowe, Broad and Belvidere, Jefferson and Henry Street Decks.

As a reminder, sales will begin online at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30 for the MCV Campus.  All housing permits, to include off-campus housing, will be available for purchase at this time.  The Monroe Park Campus sale will take place online at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7.

We hope this new permit option will help bridge the gap for those impacted commuters while supporting the educational mission of the university.  If you have any additional questions regarding this new permit option, please contact customer service directly by e-mailing parking@vcu.edu.

November 14- Helpful Tips for Entering/Exiting D Deck

We would like to thank you for adapting so well to the new gate system on D Deck.  Since our implementation back in September, we have received quite a bit of positive feedback regarding the improved traffic flow, space availability and secure ingress/egress.

As a reminder, we would like for you to take note of the following tips to help ensure a smoother parking experience when entering and exiting the deck:

  1. Utilize all available levels to enter the facility.
  2. If your RFID permit does not register within five seconds, try scanning your VCUCard.
  3. Do not display both your adhesive permit and hangtag.
  4. In the event you have any issues at the entrance/exit lanes, please press the “i” button, located on the verifier, to be connected to our 24-hour command center.
We hope that the new gate system continues to improve your overall parking experience.
