4/25/16 – New MCV Campus Parking Facility

In efforts to meet the increasing demand for parking across the MCV campus, we are excited to announce that we have recently acquired a new parking facility—the R Lot.  All MCV campus parking subscribers will have the opportunity to switch their current parking subscriptions to this new location, which will open on May 16, 2016.

The R Lot is located at 508 S. 14th Street, just over the 14th Street Bridge on Mayo Island, and will be open for parking from 5 am until 12 am, Monday through Friday.  RamRide shuttle service will be provided approximately every 10-20 minutes to transport subscribers from the R Lot to Sanger Hall.

A traffic guard will be on-site to assist subscribers with an easy ingress to and egress from the R Lot, specifically during peak periods.  Additionally, a VCU Parking Enforcement Officer will be stationed at this facility during hours of operation as an added measure of safety and convenience.

The monthly rate for the R Lot is set at $50.00 ($25.00 bi-weekly) and will be available for parking beginning on Monday, May 16.

If you would like to switch your current parking subscription to the R Lot, please email parking@vcu.edu with your first/last name, current parking location and employee number.  A customer service representative will then confirm your relocation and effective parking date.

4/12/16- A Lot Parking Update

We will soon be losing a portion of the A Lot, located at 500 E. Franklin Street (beside Main Street Station).  Sunday, May 15, 2016, will be last day A Lot subscribers will be able to park at this location, as this portion will be marked as closed on Monday, May 16, and VCU Parking permits will no longer be accepted here.  Please note, signage will be posted in this area to reflect the upcoming change.

While the 500 E. Franklin Street A Lot location will be closed to subscribers, we are happy to note that we have acquired an additional lot, located at 400 Oliver Hill Way, which will be added to the A Lot inventory.  This new A Lot location will be available for subscriber parking beginning on Monday, May 16, 2016.

Beginning on Monday, May 16, all A Lot subscribers will be able to utilize the following parking locations:

  • 212 N. 18 Street (located behind the Exxon gas station)
  • 300-320 Oliver Hill Way (located at the corner of Broad & Oliver Hill Way)
  • 400 Oliver Hill Way (located at the corner of Oliver Hill Way and Marshall Street, directly behind 300 Oliver Hill Way)
Prior to transitioning to the new A Lot location, we will be performing several maintenance upgrades to this facility in the coming weeks.  Scheduled work will include grading and re-graveling, and we are also working with Dominion to increase lighting in the area.  We have just recently completed graveling of our 300 Oliver Hill Way location and filled in the existing potholes which developed from our most recent snow storms.

Updated transit information will be provided in the coming weeks.

4/12/16- WBSD Stairwell Closure

In efforts to preserve the interior surfaces of the West Broad Street Deck, beginning on April 15, crews will be onsite to re-paint the stair towers at this facility.  This painting project will be completed in two phases, and during each phase of work, one stair tower will be closed to customer traffic at a time.

On Friday, April 15, crews will close the Harrison Street stair tower (located on the southwest corner of the deck) for painting, beginning at 5pm.  This stair tower is projected to remain closed until Thursday, April 28.  On Friday, April 29, phase two of the project will begin, during which time crews will close the Shafer Street stair tower (located on the northeast corner of the deck) until Thursday, May 12.
