Do you want to apply for a national scholarship, but not sure where to start? Attend the NSO’s How to Apply Workshop Series!

The NSO is offering a FREE 5-week series that will prepare participants to tackle major applications for postgraduate scholarships, including the Fulbright U.S. Student program, the Rhodes Scholarship, Marshall Scholarship, Mitchell Scholarship, Gates Cambridge Scholarship, Samvid Scholarship, Paul and Daisy Soros Scholarship, Schwarzman Scholars Program, Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program, and more!

Led by the NSO staff, participants will explore themes and ideas central to all applications, as well as learn how to approach major application components, such as essays, letters of recommendation, and resumes. The series will meet for 2 hours, once a week for five weeks (see schedule below). Each session will be interactive, and participants will be expected to take an active role in discussion and writing exercises, as well as to come prepared with any assigned homework completed. The success of this series will very much depend on your attendance and active participation!

The NSO is offering two meeting times each week:

  • Tuesdays from 5:00-7:00 pm, February 22-March 29
  • Fridays from 2:00-4:00 pm, February 25-April 1

There will be no meeting over Spring break (week of March 7), and we will only run a workshop at a given time if we have at least 10 people registered for that time.

Please note: Our expectation is that you will commit to attending all five sessions. We understand that sometimes things come up and you may need to miss or meet with the other session in a given week, but please register with the intention of being present for the full series.

We are excited to offer this series and to work with you this Spring! Please email Dr. Sisson (mrsisson@vcu.edu) with any questions.
