Dean appointed to national task force on leadership and career development
Dean of Libraries and University Librarian Irene M.H. Herold, Ph.D., has accepted a national appointment to serve as a member of the Association of Research Libraries Leadership & Career Development Program Task Force. Her term begins December 1, 2021 and continues at least until November 30, 2022.
According to ARL: The ARL Leadership and Career Development Program (LCDP) is a yearlong fellowship that aims to prepare mid-career librarians from historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups to take on leadership roles in their careers and in the profession at large. Since ARL launched the LCDP in 1997, a large percentage of alumni have assumed significantly expanded responsibilities within their institutions and/or within professional organizations.
The program contributes to addressing the need for research libraries and archives to develop a more diverse professional workforce that can contribute to institutions’ successes in serving the research, teaching, and learning of increasingly diverse scholarly and learning communities.
ARL is the collective voice for research libraries and archives on public policy in the U.S. and internationally. It is a thoughtful and leading voice on policy and legal issues that advance sustainable, equitable, and barrier-free access to information and culture while protecting core values of privacy and freedom of expression.
