What is VoiceThread?
VoiceThread is a company that Blackboard has partnered with to provide a replacement for Blackboard Voice Authoring tools. VoiceThread is an enhanced tool that allows delivery of content using rich multimedia, such as: audio, video, and text comments on uploaded documents, presentations, images, and video. VoiceThread provides a number of new features that were never available in Blackboard Collaborate Voice Authoring.
Why are Blackboard Voice Authoring Tools Changing?
Web browsers (i.e. Firefox, Safari, Chrome) are discontinuing support of Java–a programming language used to deliver web-based content. The current Blackboard Voice Authoring functionality will be limited to older browser versions that support Java, therefore another solution will be provided by Blackboard to minimize system issues as more browsers discontinue use of Java. How Soon Can I Start Using VoiceThread?
The Learning Systems Team is currently researching and testing, so additional information will be posted in the Learning Systems blog as it becomes available. Updated information will be indicated in the Blackboard announcments module (in Blackboard) with a link to the blog.
