The building will close December 22 at 10 a.m. and reopen on January 14 at 10 a.m. Residents are required to vacate the building within 24 hours of their last exam or by 10 a.m. on December 22, whichever comes first. Please make arrangements to ensure you have departed the building by this time. Failure to depart by this day and time may result in a late departure fee. Please note, the area office and mail room will be closed from December 23 to January 2, and will reopen during business hours on January 3, 2022.

As you leave for the break, please remember the following items:

  • Turn off all lights
  • Turn all water faucets off 
  • Unplug small appliances and other electrical items, except refrigerators
  • Clean all perishable foods from the refrigerator 
  • Remove all trash from your living space 
  • Close and lock all windows
  • Close all blinds
  • Put heat on 70 degrees or off, if possible
  • Take home valuables and medications
  • Before leaving, be sure to take your keys and ID and make sure your door is securely locked

If you are withdrawing from VCU or studying abroad for the spring term, you need to complete a Request to Cancel Housing Contract. All personal items need to be removed from your room by the closing date, December 22 at 10 a.m. Don’t forget to properly return your keys to avoid extra charges. You will also need to contact Dining Services and Parking to cancel your contracts with them if applicable.
