Winter break is right around the corner! During the break the building will remain open but the area office will be closed from December 22 at 5 p.m. to January 3 at 8 a.m. When you leave the building during this time, please remember to carry your ID and key(s) with you. If you are locked out, you may experience some delay in service due to limited staff availability. Updated operating hours for the Mail and Package Centers will be posted at housing.vcu.edu/help/mail. Updated hours will also be listed on signage at your designated mail center and hours will be listed in every notification you receive from reshallmail@vcu.edu

Residents staying over the break will need to observe all COVID-19 policies. Residents with vaccine exemptions may be required to take a COVID-19 test and will have to complete health checks daily even if they are not on campus.

Residents may decide to travel away from campus over the break and are not required to pack all of their belongings when leaving for break. You may keep items in your room but we strongly recommend taking home any valuables, important documents and medications. If you decide to leave for the break, please remember the following items:

  • Turn off all lights
  • Turn all water faucets off
  • Unplug small appliances and other electrical items, except refrigerators
  • Clean all perishable foods from refrigerator
  • Remove all trash from your apartment/living space
  • Close and lock all windows

  • Put heat on 70 degrees
  • Take home valuables
  • Before leaving, be sure to take your keys and ID and make sure your door is securely locked
