Alumni spotlight: Terri Williams
Terri Williams (B.S.’80/E; M.Ed.’07/E) spent her career teaching in central Virginia in the Richmond, Dinwiddie, Hanover and Henrico school systems. She relocated to Virginia Beach when she retired in recent years, and although she continues to substitute teach with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, her favorite pastime is spent with her two grandchildren.
What’s the best part about getting involved with the Hampton Roads Chapter?
My favorite part has been organizing and attending basketball watch parties. The best so far was at the same venue here in Virginia Beach as the University of Richmond alumni to watch the RAMS vs. the Spiders. It became a cheering competition at the end, and we were able to pull off a win!
How would you recommend newcomers acclimate to the area?
Virginia Beach is a large city with a variety of nightlife, art, and music events. I would suggest joining a variety of social media groups to meet new friends and enjoy all that the beach has to offer.
Do you have a favorite spot where you like to eat?
My favorite restaurant is the Porch on Long Creek but there are so many to choose from here, both along the oceanfront and inland.
