AOP update: future home of VCU Dental Care clinics
The VCU Health System’s new Adult Outpatient Pavilion (AOP) is currently under construction at the corner of North 10th and East Leigh streets. The AOP will be the future home of nearly all of the VCU School of Dentistry clinics. This state-of-the-art facility affords our dental school bragging rights as the first in the country to occupy space within a comprehensive outpatient center. The Pediatric Dentistry Clinic is moving to the Children’s Hospital of Richmond later this year.
School of Dentistry clinics will occupy two floors of this 17-story facility, and a 13-chair Graduate Periodontics Clinic will be located on Floor 8, with all other graduate clinics. Undergraduate clinics will be located on Floor 9. All academic offices and classrooms will remain in their existing spaces, at least for now.
The AOP will also house outpatient services of VCU’s Massey Cancer Center, infusion medicine, women’s health services and specialty outpatient clinics. Additionally, on-site laboratory, pharmacy and medical imaging services will be present.
The new pavilion is scheduled to open in December 2021. This single outpatient facility will provide a collaborative environment where dental and medical services will work together to improve the overall health and well-being of VCU Health patients.
