White Coat Ceremony 2010: Students charged with making a commitment to the dental profession
On October 15, 2010, members of the DDS Class of 2013 and the Dental Hygiene Class of 2012 processed into the Greater Richmond Convention Center with their pressed, white clinic jackets draped over their arms. It was their turn to participate in the honorable tradition of receiving their white coat as a welcome into the clinical aspect of their dental education.
Dr. David Sarrett, Interim Dean, welcomed them along with family members, friends, faculty and staff. Dr. Gus Vlahos, alumnus of the dental school and father of second year dental student Stephanie Vlahos, spoke to the students about ethics, professionalism and the overall commitment to the dental profession. Following his message, both classes were presented with their white clinic coats by members of the faculty and then recited their respective pledges. A reception in the foyer followed the ceremony where everyone celebrated the occasion.
