September is a busy month at VCU!  Here are some of the most important dates and events to be aware of this month:

Sept. 10-12: VCU Southern Film Festival 
You and your student are invited to participate in this three-day event that explores how the South has been portrayed onscreen.   This year’s festival promises to be an exciting one featuring:

Sept. 16: Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, VCU and the Sacred Heart Center are proud to present a discussion with Anna Escobedo Cabral who served as the 42nd Treasurer of the United States from 2005-2009, becoming the highest-ranking Latina in the George W. Sept. 19-27: VCU Reading Days – No Classes Held
This is the week that classes are cancelled due to the UCI Road World Championships.  Many events will be happening on and around campus that we hope you will encourage your student to stay and participate in.  In addition to the opportunities offered to participate in the bike race events, University Student Commons and Activities will offer a full schedule of events.  Click here for the schedule.

Sept. 24: Last Day to Register for an Installment Payment Plan for Fall Semester
The Installment Payment Plan assists students in meeting the cost of their higher education by offering a convenient payment option that distributes the cost of the tuition, fees, housing, dining and communications fee charges for a semester into four equal installments.  Click here for more information.

Sept. 30 – Engineering Internship and Career Fair
Is your student an engineering major?  If so, encourage him or her to check out the School of Engineering Internship and Career Fair to meet employers offering internships and begin networking for that big job after graduation!  More information can be found here. Encourage your student to prepare before attending the fair by checking out the tips found here.

Oct. 1 – Business Career Fair
Is your student a business major?  If so, the School Business wants to see him or her at the upcoming Career Fair.  Students will have the opportunity to network with employers, meet alumni and learn about internships and career opportunities.  Click here for more information about the event and about other events leading up to it that will help your student prepare.

Arts Events 
If you and/or your student is a fan of the arts, make sure to regularly check the School of the Arts event calendar found here for events coming up across all of their departments. Several theatrical performances already have tickets on sale.  This calendar also will share music and dance performances as well as art exhibitions.
