Social work faculty, students, alumni presenting at SSWR 2023
Nearly 50 VCU School of Social Work faculty, students and alumni have had presentations accepted or are serving in other roles such as moderating special interest groups or roundtables at the Society for Social Work and Research 2023 conference in Phoenix, Jan. 11-15, 2023.
In total, there are 63 presentations or sessions involving someone with a school connection, including several presentations that were accepted and withdrawn. Fifteen faculty are represented, with Associate Professor Youngmi Kim, Ph.D., participating in six presentations and Doctoral Program Director Denise Burnette, Ph.D., participating in five sessions, including as an oral presentation moderator and a special interest group convener.
In addition, Associate Professor Maurice Gattis, Ph.D., served as cluster chair of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGIE) expression track, reviewing abstracts submitted for conference presentations.
Eleven Ph.D. students or candidates and one M.S.W. student are contributors to presentations, with Jennifer Murphy, M.S., M.S.W., part of six presentations; Matthew Morgan, M.S.W., with four; and Sunghwan Cho, M.S.W., and Camie Tomlinson, M.S.W., with three each. Twelve presentations include VCU students as lead authors/presenters.
In addition to three doctoral students who are also M.S.W. alumni, 22 other VCU social work graduates are part of accepted presentations.
Presentations and sessions listed below include collaborations with 46 non-VCU academic, research or professional institutions, plus VCU’s L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs; the Clark-Hill Institute for Positive Youth Development; and the departments of Mathematics & Applied Mathematics and Statistical Sciences & Operations Research.
