Dr. Kathleen Rudasill named Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
Dear VCU Community:
After an internal search, I am pleased to announce that Kathleen M. Rudasill, Ph.D. has been appointed senior vice provost for faculty affairs. Dr. Rudasill has served as the interim senior vice provost since May 2025. She is a tenured, full professor in the School of Education.
Dr. Rudasill is a highly accomplished faculty member and academic leader who brings to the position 20 years of academic experience. Prior to joining the Office of the Provost she served as interim dean of the School of Education, where she had also served as senior associate dean for research and faculty development. She has held faculty positions at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Louisville. She has authored 75 peer-reviewed journal articles; served as PI, Co-PI, or Co-I on external grants totaling over $5.5M; and presented her work at 75 national and international conferences. In addition, she has served as associate editor for the Journal of School Psychology and editor for Gifted Children. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, Divisions 7 and 15.
Since joining the Office of the Provost, Dr. Rudasill has made a substantial impact in support of VCU faculty. Most recently she managed the successful revision of promotion and tenure policies; oversaw the delivery of results from the university’s COACHE survey; updated the administration of faculty awards and recognition; supported and promoted the use and expansion of Academic Analytics for academic excellence; collaborated with Institutional Research and Decision Support (IRDS) to improve the effectiveness of course evaluation policies and procedures; and strengthened a culture of care that unifies faculty on our campuses.
Dr. Rudasill holds a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, a M.A.Ed. from the College of William and Mary, and a B.A. from Washington and Lee University.
