VCU Alumni and Community Bike Ride event

Since 2011, when we launched the Quest for Distinction strategic plan, Virginia Commonwealth University has been on a journey to become one of the nation’s premier urban, public research universities. Thanks to the talent, vision and investment of so many, we have indeed become a more-relevant research university for the 21st century.

It is important that we celebrate these successes. In that spirit, I hope you will join me for a monthlong celebration of our past, present and future, while recognizing those who laid the foundation for us.

April is VCU Alumni Month, and you are invited to join in April’s Alumni Month activities, even if you are not a VCU graduate. To celebrate, all faculty and staff are encouraged to show their VCU spirit by wearing university gear or black and gold to work every Friday in April.

VCU Alumni has collaborated with units throughout the university to pull together more than 30 events on and near campus during April. You can find a complete list here.

I hope you will take part in some of the exciting Alumni Month events, too, including the VCU Alumni and Community Bike Ride and the RPI, MCV and AAAC reunions and so much more. Engaging our alumni is key to the continued growth and development of our university. Please show your support and help spread the word about these opportunities.

As vital members of the VCU family, please make time to join with alumni — from throughout the entire university and all eras of our history — to celebrate together.
