Annual Report 2014-15: Only VCU

Time to make a difference

As I look back on 2015, I marvel at what a wonderful year it was for Virginia Commonwealth University.

This year, we welcomed two new members of senior leadership team, Provost Gail Hackett and Vice President for Health Sciences and CEO of VCU Health Marsha Rappley. We opened the new phases of our Cabell Library; the VCU Basketball Development Center; and two new facilities in our Grace Street Living Learning Village, Innovate and LEAD. We also made significant progress on the Children’s Pavilion, which will open in the new year, and the Institute for Contemporary Art (2017).

We also focused our strategic plan, Quest for Distinction, which continues to catalyze VCU as a benchmark research university for the 21st century. Our success with Quest included record years for research and innovation and student success, and our second-best fundraising year ever.

As we prepare for 2016, there is much about which I am excited. We will launch our largest and most comprehensive capital campaign; move forward with our medical campus master plan; and continue to add to the rich diversity of our campus community, notably among our faculty.

Our success is thanks to all the people who make up VCU. I am grateful to you, and I wish you a warm, restful and festive winter break with those you love.
