Grateful for VCU

This Thanksgiving, Virginia Commonwealth University has given us so much to be thankful for.
I’m thankful for a university community that embraces innovation and creativity. From the School of Medicine to the Institute for the Contemporary Art, I’m thankful for the tireless work that continues to put VCU on the map.
I’m thankful for a No. 1-ranked safety-net hospital, which is committed to serving diverse populations. And I’m thankful for those who are dedicated to finding causes and cures that help change people’s lives.
I’m thankful for an urban environment that enriches our students’ living-learning experience. I’m thankful that that environment motivated students to provide organizations and individuals with 1 million hours of community service last year.
I’m thankful for a wonderfully diverse student population that looks like the world it will soon be asked to lead. I’m thankful for the incredible richness that this diversity brings to our campus and for students who embrace each other’s differences, not just tolerate them.
I’m thankful for collegial faculty and staff who are committed to their work and to making VCU a better place every day. I’m thankful for alumni who support VCU in so many ways.
Thank you, VCU, for giving us all so much. In the spirit of the holiday, feel free to share what you’re thankful for with the “Make it real” hashtag, #MIRThanks.
