VCU Seal

Thursday mornings in Richmond will never be quite the same, as we mourn the death of Raymond H. Boone Sr., Richmond Free Press founder, editor and publisher.

He was a respected colleague with a gift for advocacy, often serving as the voice of conscience for the Richmond community. He was a mentor to black men and women entering the communications field, and his leadership and tireless efforts helped to strengthen the black press in Virginia.

He leaves a remarkable legacy to the field of journalism and our thoughts go out to his family and the entire Free Press family.
