It looks as though 2016 will be another banner year for VCU School of Pharmacy participation in domestic outreach events. Fifty-three students applied to work as volunteers with four medical missions designed to provide care for Virginia’s underserved populations.

“The application committee was very impressed by the many talented students who are committed to serving the community,” said associate professor Evan Sisson. Sisson, assistant professors Dave Dixon and Emily Peron, and postdoctoral fellow Eric Parod assisted the student leaders for each trip in selecting their teams via a blinded process.

Sisson encourages students who did not get their first choice this year to reapply in future. (He’s also available to provide feedback on how to improve applications; email him at emsission@vcu.edu.)
