Inova Campus student garners national ACCP research award
Wolfe, a fourth-year Pharm.D. student at the school’s Inova Campus, will make a platform presentation at 6 p.m. Oct. 15 during the ACCP Adult Medicine PRN business meeting, part of ACCP’s Annual Meeting in Albuquerque, N.M.
Her research, “Appropriateness of Initiation and Discontinuation of Empiric Vancomycin Therapy in Febrile Neutropenic Oncology Patients at a Large Community Teaching Hospital,” was completed as part of an independent research elective with assistant professor Casey Washington. Wolfe collaborated with fellow fourth-year Inova Campus students Jessica Libuit and Andrew Whitman.
“I am so proud of Rebecca’s selection to receive this award and the recognition of her hard work,” said Michael Clarke, assistant dean for the Inova Campus. “She is a member of the class of 2014 and is a great example of students who continue to capitalize on opportunities available on the Inova Campus.
“Together, our students, faculty and staff have grown and matured, each giving back to each other. I am so very proud of all of their accomplishments.”
Wolfe was selected by the ACCP Adult Medicine PRN Travel and Training Awards Committee for the Student Research Award, which includes a stipend to help cover her registration and travel expenses for the 2013 Annual Meeting. The decision was made based on her research abstract along with a statement on her interest in clinical pharmacy practice.
