And don't forget the yummy desserts.
And don’t forget the yummy desserts.

VCU School of Pharmacy students, faculty, staff, families and friends are invited to attend the 2013 fall picnic and … drumroll, please! … the amazing semiannual tug-of-war competition. The big event takes place 5-7 p.m. Oct. 2 at Shields Lake Shelter. Bring your kids, bring your dogs (actual, not “hot”). Food and drink are on the school.

Typically plenty of students are available to create mean, lean, tug-of-war machines. It’s a nice way to work off those burgers — and also one of Dean Victor Yanchick’s favorite events of the year, as he is allowed to call the winners. Also on tap: cornhole, touch football, Frisbee, you name it.

This year, the dean is challenging SOP faculty to come out and form a volleyball team that willing to face up to the students. Are you with us, faculty? If so, we’ll see you there Oct. 2. Net provided.

Directions: Take Boulevard South (coming from the direction of The Diamond) to the end. Turn left into Byrd Park. Follow the signs that point toward Maymont. You will see a stop sign with another Maymont sign pointing straight ahead. Continue straight. Take the next right. South Addison will be on your left. Follow the signs around to the triangle/circle and cross the bridge that separates the two lakes. After crossing the bridge, turn right and continue. The shelter entrance will be on the left.
