Update on License Plate Recognition (LPR) implementation
We would like to provide you with an update regarding the launch of License Plate Recognition (LPR), previously targeted for January 8, 2024.
Regrettably, we have encountered technical challenges that will prevent us from meeting the initial target date; however, we are pleased to inform you that significant progress has been made. All fixed LPR equipment, including cameras, conduit, and power infrastructure, has been successfully installed in each parking deck. Our team is currently collaborating with vendors and VCU Technology Services to bring all equipment online and ensure proper configuration.
In the meantime, please continue to use your hangtag permit until further notice.
Looking ahead, we anticipate initiating a test period for LPR in the spring at designated facilities prior to a system-wide implementation. Be sure to keep an eye on your email, as we will provide updates on the progress at your specific parking facility. Email communication will be the primary channel for keeping you informed about any developments.
