RamSafe/RamRide move to Ride Pingo on Dec. 19
On December 19, the mobile app to place ride requests and track RamRide buses will transition to Ride Pingo. Students and employees interested in scheduling a ride through RamSafe should place their requests using the Ride Pingo mobile app, available for download for free in Google Play, Apple app stores and VCU Mobile. The former RamSafe app and ramsafe.vcu.edu is being discontinued.
Additionally, RamRide users can use Ride Pingo, beginning on Dec. 19. The mobile RideSystems app will end service on January 6.
Registering with Ride Pingo
Upon downloading the Ride Pingo app, first-time users will be prompted to create an account using a VCU/VCU Health System email address. VCU Health System employees looking to access RamSafe should enter their VCU eID followed by “@vcu.edu.” Once an account is created, RamSafe users will be redirected to VCU’s Central Authentication Service (CAS) and then prompted to verify your mobile device. If you encounter any issues during this process, call 828 SAFE (7233) or 804-250-5019. RamRide users entering VCU Health System emails will not be redirected to CAS.
Requesting a RamSafe ride
Following verification, you can enter the details of your journey and request your ride, including accessible accommodations. Similar to the previous RamSafe app, users can view the driver’s estimated arrival time for each trip. Once the RamSafe bus reaches your destination, you will receive a push notification through the app. Drivers wait three minutes at the pick-up location before canceling the ride.
