VCU Parking and Transportation

News & information

Dear VCU and VCU Health communities,

By now, all VCU, VCU Health System and Virginia Premier students and employees should have received their VCU/GRTC GO Pass in the mail. Effective Sunday, February 24, you will be required to utilize your issued VCU/GRTC GO Pass in addition to your VCU, VCU Health or Virginia Premier ID card to ride GRTC under the pilot program. Detailed instructions for using your new GO Pass can be found online.

What should you do if you did not receive your GO Pass?

If you have not yet received your GO Pass, please check your VCU or VCU Health System email to ensure that you did not receive a message from VCU Parking and Transportation notifying you that your pass has been returned to our customer service offices as undeliverable. In the event you have not received an email notification regarding your GO Pass, please contact VCU Parking and Transportation directly at parking@vcu.edu.

Why use your Go Pass?

GRTC requires the use of the GO Pass as part of the pilot program. In addition, the GO Passes will provide us with ridership data which will help inform future transportation decisions across the university and health system. To date, we have received an overwhelmingly positive response from the VCU and VCU Health community regarding the pilot program, with 56 percent of students and employees reporting that they utilize GRTC to travel to their destination multiple times per week and 95.4 percent of survey respondents agreeing that VCU should continue the GRTC partnership. As a reminder, the pilot program grants students and employees of VCU and VCU Health System, including Virginia Premier, with unlimited transportation access on the GRTC Pulse Bus Rapid Transit and its regular fixed-route bus service (local and express) at no cost to the rider. Students and employees are encouraged to use GRTC’s Pulse and Route 5 for travel between the Monroe Park and MCV campuses.

How was your experience?

As we progress through the pilot period, I encourage you to share your feedback at parking.vcu.edu/transportation/grtc/feedback/. Additionally, you can learn more about the GRTC pilot program and how to find your route by visiting go.vcu/edu/grtc. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Parking and Transportation directly at (804) 828-7275 or parking@vcu.edu.

We thank you for your support of this partnership and look forward to welcoming additional ridership aboard GRTC in the coming months.

Sincerely,

Clayton Harrington, III
