VCU Parking and Transportation

News & information

October 17, 2018

In preparation to complete steam work for the new College of Health Professions, the intersection of 10th and Turpin Streets will be closed to traffic, beginning on October 20. This three- to four-week closure will shut down all through traffic on 10th St. between East Leigh St. and Duval St.

During the closure, access to N Deck will be available via Duval St.  Detour signs will be posted in the area to direct drivers of alternate routes.

  • Westbound traffic on Leigh St., including VCU Child Development Center and N Deck subscribers, will follow a detour route along Leigh St. and turn Northbound on N. 8th Street. Drivers will proceed on 8th Street to the Duval St. Connector and turn Eastbound. A section of North 10th St. will be open for access to the N Deck and childcare center drop-off/pick-up traffic only.
  • Eastbound traffic on Leigh St. will turn Northbound on N. 4th St., Eastbound on Jackson St. and Northbound onto North 8th St. to access the Duval St. Connector for N Deck and childcare center access.

VCU Police will have units present in the area during peak traffic hours, Monday through Friday, as needed, to assist with the flow of traffic.

Please be mindful of construction crews as you travel through this area, and use dedicated crosswalks when crossing the street.  It may be helpful to incorporate additional time in your commute while this project takes place, as heavy traffic is expected.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation.  Additional information regarding this project can be found online at https://www.vcuhealth.org/news-center/building-projects/outpatient-facility-updates.
