West Main St. Deck

The West Main St. Deck will be undergoing renovations from mid-May to late November. The renovations will include concrete repairs and adding a protective coating and corrosion inhibitor to the concrete in order to extend the life of the concrete, and thus the life of the parking deck. These types of preventative maintenance techniques are required every 7-10 years. The restoration process will also require re-striping the deck. During the summer semester, the deck will be reduced to 50% capacity, but once the fall semester starts only 250 spaces will be closed in the deck at a time.

Updates:

November 14, 2018: Renovation work at West Main Street Deck continues to progress, and we are on schedule for completion in early December.

On Monday, November 19, crews will transition to Level 1 and temporarily close the ADA spaces located in the northwest (facing Student Commons) and northeast (facing Altria Theater) parking quadrants for re-striping. Temporary ADA spaces will be provided in the southwest (located nearest Cherry and Cary Streets) and southeast (located nearest Laurel and Cary Streets) quadrants of the deck.

Please be mindful of the construction crew, avoiding active work areas as you enter and exit the West Main Street Deck daily, and be sure to follow the posted signage indicating closed zones.

We will continue to keep you informed of construction impacts as work progresses.  In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact customer service at 828-PARK (7275).

Thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout this restoration period.  Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this project, please contact customer service at 828-PARK (7275).

August 28, 2018: Beginning in August, 250 spaces will be closed to parking at a time.  Additionally, stairwell access may be impacted as the contractor alternates between work areas within the deck.  Signage indicating closed areas will be posted throughout the facility.

The northwest (Main/Cherry) and northeast (Main/Laurel) stairwells are currently closed.  We will notify you when these stairwells re-open and the contractor transitions to the southern portion of the facility.  Elevator access will not be impacted during this project.

Please be mindful of the construction crew as you enter and exit the West Main Street Deck daily. Additionally, please follow posted signage regarding active construction areas and closures when traveling throughout the deck.  We will continue to keep you informed of construction impacts as work progresses.  In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact customer service at 828-PARK (7275).

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to restore the West Main Street Deck, and best wishes for a successful semester.

D Deck

The D Deck will be undergoing renovations from July 1, 2018 to March 2019. Minor repairs will be addressed during this time as well as similar preventative maintenance, including applying a protective coating and a corrosion inhibitor to the concrete. Only 250 spaces will be closed at a time during the construction process to allow parking in the majority of the deck.

Facility assessments are being currently conducted for all parking facilities to look for any structural problems and determine a capital project schedule going forward.
