The ITCC at Virginia Commonwealth University serves to enhance technical knowledge and promote career development by facilitating networking, mentoring, and learning activities within the University. The elected Leadership Team serves as the ITCC’s voice to university administration in matters related to the execution of all community activities.

Our current Chair, Jason Jacobus, has accepted a new position and will be leaving the university. Scottie Wylie will be officially stepping into the role of Chair effective November 9, 2021. We are excited for Jason and thank him for all of the hard work he has done for the ITCC and the university and we wish him the best.

Mentorship Program

We’re happy to announce that the Mentorship Program has returned for 2021-2022. Sign up as a mentor or mentee. 

Student-worker and hourly employees who work for departments under the IT Career Community job family can also now sign up as mentees as well. Since we don’t have a full roster of which departments have student- and hourly workers, please forward this email to those who may be interested in participating.

TUG (Technician’s User Group)

The Technician’s Users Group (TUG) at VCU serves as a resource and a gathering for technologists across the university to share their findings, collaborate with others, and provide feedback to service providers. 

WUG (Web Users Group)

The Web Users Group provides updates about T4, VCU’s web community, and other web-related information. WUG meets twice per year. 

ACCS VA (Association of Collegiate Computing Services of Virginia)

ACCS is a statewide organization made up of IT professionals from colleges and universities from across the state. They hold a yearly conference in the spring and people are invited to submit presentations on various topics. There are also numerous SIGs that you can sign up for that have active email listservs and some non-conference meetings. There is a call for presentation proposals that are open until November 29th. If your presentation is accepted, your entire 3 day registration is covered for free. More information can be found at http://www.accsva.org/.
