ITCC Mentorship Program 2021-2022

Greetings Information Technology Career Community Members!

You are invited to join the Career Communities Mentoring Program sponsored by VCU Human Resources. 

There are several fantastic personal and professional opportunities as a program member: 

• As a Mentor, you have the opportunity to connect with other employees and guide the to achieve their personal and professional goals
• As a Mentee, you can network and form connections that can help to advance your career

Signing up for the program takes just a few minutes, and then we will take care of finding your Mentor/Mentee pair. You will sign up for a one-year matching, with the expectation that you will meet monthly with your mentor/mentee virtually. 

New this Year

I am excited to announce that HR has greenlit the inclusion of Student and Hourly workers who are working for departments that fall under the IT Career Community. Full-time IT Career Community members now will be able to become a mentor for Student and Hourly workers and Student and Hourly workers will now have the opportunity to sign up to be a mentee.

Since we don’t have a full roster of which departments have Student workers and Hourly workers, please forward this email to those who may be interested in participating. If you are they have any questions, feel free to reach out to the Mentorship Coordinator directly by emailing Andrew Craig at craiga3@vcu.edu.

How to Sign Up

The Mentoring Program is powered by PeopleGrove software. There are two other VCU student-focused programs (hubs) that also use this software. You must join HR Career Communities Hub to join the program. Here are a few details to joining the program:

1. Click the link below. It will direct you to the Mentoring Program About Page. 
2. Once you arrive there, Click the “Join Program” button
3. You will then be prompted to complete your hub registration.
4. Once you have completed your registration, return to the Mentoring About and click “Join Program” again
5. Complete the Matching Survey Questions and click “Save”.
6. Await approval from a Site Administrator

It is important to complete both the hub registration and the mentoring program registration. Once you have completed your registration, you will need to be approved by a Site Administrator. 

Joining the ITCC Group in PeopleGrove

Once you have signed up for the Mentoring Program, please go into the ‘Groups’ tab of PeopleGrove and join the Information Technology Career Community group. Mentoring resources and group communications will be posted here from time to time. 

After you have signed up and have been paired with a mentor/mentee, we will be reaching out to you with next steps for training! Please direct all questions to the Mentorship Coordinator by emailing Andrew Craig at craiga3@vcu.edu.
