Message for first-year residents in GRC, Brandt, Rhoads and Honors:

Spring Break is almost here! In observance of Spring Break, your residence hall will close on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10 a.m. and reopen Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 10 a.m. 

As you leave for the break, please remember the following items: 

  • Turn off all lights
  • Turn all water faucets off 
  • Unplug small appliances and other electrical items, except refrigerators
  • Clean all perishable foods from the refrigerator 
  • Remove all trash from your living space 
  • Close and lock all windows
  • Close all blinds
  • Put heat on 70 degrees or off, if possible
  • Take home valuables and medications
  • Before leaving, be sure to take your keys and ID and make sure your door is securely locked 

Health and Safety Inspections

RAs will be performing a Health and Safety Inspection of each room during the weeks of February 27-March 21. These inspections include checking for cleanliness, prohibited items, as well as the completion of all the items on the list above. We will contact anyone with violations once the building has reopened.

Message for upperclass residents on the North Campus and Cary & Belvidere:

Spring Break is almost here! As a reminder, your residence hall is open over the break period. Residents staying over the break will need to observe all COVID-19 policies. 

Residents may decide to travel away from campus over the break and are not required to pack all of their belongings when leaving for break. You may keep items in your room but we strongly recommend taking home any valuables, important documents and medications. If you decide to leave for the break, please remember the following items: 

  • Turn off all lights
  • Turn all water faucets off
  • Unplug small appliances and other electrical items, except refrigerators 
  • Clean all perishable foods from refrigerator 
  • Remove all trash from your apartment/ living space 
  • Close and lock all windows
  • Close all blinds 
  • Put heat on 70 degrees 
  • Take home valuables
  • Before leaving, be sure to take your keys and ID and make sure your door is securely locked 

If assistance is needed, please go to the information desk and/or call the RA-on call. If an emergency occurs, please contact VCUPD at (804) 828-1234. Please remember to carry your ID and key with you if you remain in the building during the break. If you are locked out, you may experience some delay in service due to limited staff availability.
