Born mentor: Alumnus Stephen Andrews, Ph.D., finds his post-retirement calling helping VCU students

Stephen Andrews, Ph.D. (Ph.D.’87/H&S) (left), started volunteering with the VCU Office of Alumni Relations, greeting alumni at events. His commitment continued to build as he next volunteered to serve on the alumni board. Then he began mentoring students, first virtually, through VCU Link, then in person at the da Vinci Center for Innovation. What he considers a “small investment of time” pays off big for the students he helps.

Intersectional inspiration

When Honors College student Dylan Halpern (B.F.A.’15/A) asked his Art Foundation adviser, Brad Birchett, about minoring in computer science, Birchett suggested considering something more complementary to pair with his major in graphic design.

Alumni directory project

The VCU Office of Alumni Relations has partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce our new alumni directory. Based in Dallas, PCI publishes directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities and military organizations across the nation.
