Alumni spotlight: Stuart Grizzle (B.S.’96)

Stuart Grizzle chose VCU because of its strong business administration and real estate program. As a dual major in business management and real estate and urban land development, Stuart says relationships were the key to his success. Now an entrepreneur, the relationships he developed while attending VCU and living in Richmond, he says, were essential. He lives in New Jersey and is an active member of the Philadelphia Chapter.
Why did you choose VCU?
I chose VCU because I was looking for a university with strong business administration and real estate programs in a city setting where I could make professional contacts in my field. Being located in Virginia’s capital of Richmond was a major factor for me.
How has VCU contributed to what you do and who you are today?
The relationships I obtained while attending VCU helped launch my professional career, and VCU’s Management Training Program gave me the courage to become a successful entrepreneur. I also met my wife of 28 years, Melissa, at VCU!
What do you do professionally? What do you love about this work?
I own a financial planning and marketing agency, Secured Benefits Group, based in Philadelphia. I started this agency in 1997 fresh out of college and now have more than 10,000 clients in over a dozen states.
Why should people stay involved with VCU and the Philadelphia Chapter?
Besides continuing to network, the Philadelphia chapter loves to support our VCU Rams and attends games when they visit schools in the area. Come cheer with us! Go Rams!
