Brian Mahoney, a D4, is this year’s  SRG president. Brian has a BS in Biology from George Mason University and an MS in Physiology and Biophysics from Virginia Commonwealth University.  Brian received an AD Williams student research fellowship in 2011 to work in the laboratory of Dr Kitten. His research topic was ‘Examination of Streptococcus sanguinis Com C export and processing in Streptococcus gordonii” . 

 

As the president of the SRG Brian is really looking forward to next year’s clinic and research day. At the event students and residents have the opportunity to explain their research to everyone within the school of dentistry. Brian said ‘ To participate in clinic and research day is a very rewarding experience . The relevance and importance of student research gets recognized and celebrated. It also helps you develop the skills required to communicate your research results. Telling others about your findings is so important for the advancement of science and oral health care ‘
