RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 19, 2024) – Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) School of Business Kornblau Real Estate (KRE) Program is set to deliver the anticipated “Industry Talks: Real Estate Market Outlook” webinar on Thursday, January 25, from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. EDT. This virtual event will feature a panel of local experts discussing key topics shaping the real estate industry, with a focus on the Richmond and broader Central Virginia market.

The panel includes:

Moderated by Tonia Peake, president of Peake Law Group, the discussion will cover pertinent topics such as the current state of the market, shifting dynamics between single and multi-family homes, the link between housing and economic development, housing affordability and more.

“News headlines are all over the map for financial forecasts and expectations.  The only common refrain is that 2024 is bound to be an impactful year. I think attendees are wise to gather as many expert views and perspectives as possible to position themselves and their businesses to flourish in such times,” said Peake.

With over 600 registrations already, the webinar has garnered significant interest. “People want to attend this event to help them prepare and manage their expectations for the upcoming year to 18 months,” said Robert Taylor, executive director, Kornblau Real Estate Program and Risk Management and Insurance Program at VCU.

Interested participants can secure their spot by registering for the virtual event. For a more engaging atmosphere, the Rho Epsilon Professional Real Estate Fraternity will host a Real Estate Market Forecast Watch Party at the School of Business. This gathering is open to all students, alumni and members of the Real Estate Circle of Excellence (RECE).

About Kornblau Real Estate (KRE) Program

The origins of the Real Estate Program can be traced back to the 1950s when the first real estate course was introduced at Richmond Professional Institute. In 1969, the Alfred L. Blake Chair was established by the Virginia Realtors® Foundation of the Virginia Association of Realtors® and in the early 1970s the program was started. A significant milestone was reached in 2008 when the program was renamed the Kornblau Real Estate Program, thanks to the generous contribution of Sam Kornblau, a prominent Richmond businessman and philanthropist.

Today, the program offers a wide range of educational opportunities, including undergraduate and graduate degrees in real estate, as well as a graduate certificate program. It actively contributes to the real estate community by hosting events like the annual Real Estate Trends Conference, Real Estate Market Outlook and Spring Housing Forum Webinars, among other educational initiatives. Additionally, the Kornblau Institute serves as a platform for scholars to engage in impactful and high-quality research on various aspects of commercial and residential real estate.
