Residence Hall Closures – Winter Break 2019
The university is closing for Winter Break from Dec. 23, 2019, through Jan. 3, 2020. Spring term classes begin on Monday, January 13, 2020. Please see the important information below if your student is living on campus.
Residence Hall Closings and Openings
Brandt, Honors, Johnson and Rhoads Halls will close for Winter Break on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. and will reopen on Friday, Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. Please check your VCU email for hall specific closing information. If you have any questions, please see your hall staff.
Ackell, Broad & Belvidere, Cary & Belvidere, Gladding Residence Center, Grace & Broad, West Grace North and West Grace South will remain open during breaks. If your student plans on leaving during breaks, please remind them to do the following:
- Turn off all lights
- Turn all water faucets off
- Unplug small appliances and other electrical items, except refrigerators
- Clean out all perishable foods from the refrigerator
- Remove all trash from your apartment/living space
- Close and lock all windows
- Close all mini blinds
- Put heat on 70 degrees or off, if possible
- Take home valuables
- Before leaving, be sure to take your keys and ID & make sure
- your door is securely locked
