Tax season can be a confusing and stressful time no matter what age you are, but many students struggle with whether or not to file a tax return. Parents and families are encouraged to talk to your students about tips and tricks for filing a tax return, and whether or not they need to file in the first place. For some tips to pass along if your student is filing a tax return for the first time, check out this blog post from NerdWallet.

Tax credits may be available for students or families based on qualified educational expenses paid for tuition and fees. In January, the VCU Student Accounting Department issued 1098-T forms and Tuition Statements to eligible students. Students may access a copy of their forms through the “Tax Notification” option under the “Student Accounts” menu in  VCU eServices.
