VCU Public Health expands curriculum, offers more options for microcredentials
The VCU School of Public Health is partnering with VCU Continuing and Professional Education to offer more ways to level up your public health education and practice.
The new program — launching October 19 — is ideal for mission-driven individuals who want to make a tangible impact on community well-being, including current healthcare professionals, nonprofit organizers, social justice advocates and students pursuing any degree. It offers an accessible, flexible way for students and professionals from a variety of backgrounds to understand how public health systems work, evaluate evidence, and apply public health approaches to real-world challenges.
“Public health skills are valuable far beyond traditional public health careers,” said Kellie Carlyle, Ph.D., M.P.H., M.Ed., professor and interim associate dean for academic affairs at the VCU School of Public Health. “Our new microcredential series is about equipping more people with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions that improve the health of our communities.”
Designed to bridge foundational theory with hands-on practice, the curriculum is organized into four distinct learning modules.
Courses include:
- Population Health Assessment
- Public Health Systems, Policy, and Values
- Evidence-Based Prevention
- Global and Ecological Health Systems
Participants can take any of the four courses for a digital badge or enroll in the Foundations of Public Health Decision-Making for a discounted bundle rate.
Each course is $249 or $800 as a bundle. Discounts are also available for VCU employees and current students. Please email [email protected] to obtain your coupon code prior to registration.
The program officially opens on October 19 but registration is accepted on a continuous basis. All courses are fully online and asynchronous.
Participants who successfully complete the course can share their digital badge achievements on LinkedIn and other professional platforms.
