School of Social Work

No. 28 M.S.W. Program in the U.S.

David Hamilton, Ph.D., LMSW, ACSW, a 1998 alumnus of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work Ph.D. Program, was recognized for his outstanding service to the New York State Board for Social Work by the Association of Social Work Boards during its 2016 Annual Meeting of the Delegate Assembly, held in November in San Diego, California.

Hamilton, executive secretary of the New York State Board for Social Work, was awarded the Glenda McDonald Board Administrator Award for Outstanding Commitment to Social Work Regulatory Board Service. He was recognized for his years of dedicated service to licensed social workers, the social work board and his supportive leadership within ASWB.

Hamilton is the first recipient of the award for social work regulatory administrators since the award was renamed by the ASWB Board of Directors in 2015. The award was named in memory of Glenda McDonald, longtime registrar of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and an active ASWB volunteer. The award is given annually by the Association of Social Work Boards to a regulatory board staff member.

The Association of Social Work Boards is the nonprofit association of social work licensing regulatory bodies in the United States and Canada.
