We all imagine a world without cancer, and I’m proud that VCU Massey Cancer Center is hard at work making this a reality.

Did you know that African Americans make up 13 percent of the U.S. population but have a higher cancer mortality rate than other ethnic and racial groups in the country? Today, the current mortality rate is 14 percent. This is unacceptable and a calling for all of us to remain united in our work to develop treatments and cures for cancer.

This month, Massey is focusing on health care disparities faced by members of the African American community. The 25 for 25: Health Equity and Justice campaign focuses on education and awareness, and funds raised during the campaign will benefit Massey’s work toward health equity and access to world-class treatment and care.

Please join us in the 25 for 25 Campaign and take a stand against health disparities.
