Michael Rao, Ph.D.

For more than 50 years, students at VCU have been engaged and active members of our communities. I am proud of their tenacity and drive to make a difference in the world through scholarship, research, creativity, health care, and community action.

In that spirit, I am grateful for work done by VCU Votes Advisory Council and the VCU Votes Student Coalition to provide students, community members and neighbors with the resources they need to be informed voters in the upcoming election. Civic education and engagement are important to the well-being of all of us.

We are in the middle of a very active election season, and voter access and education are important. I encourage you to visit the VCU Votes page for resources and important deadlines.

VCU will pause on November 3 to allow all of our faculty, staff, and students to vote. We will go to the polls and make decisions that will help shape the future of Virginia, its universities, workforce, health care, economy and much more. We have the power to make our voices heard in our communities, the commonwealth and the nation by casting a vote.

I encourage you to make your voice heard.
