President’s Posts

Michael Rao, Ph.D.

Dear Colleagues,

The VCU community has called for the continued development of courses, classroom learning experiences and professional development opportunities that are inclusive and engage across disciplinary, unit and area boundaries.

The Division for Inclusive Excellence has developed a number of initiatives, including the Curriculum Development Awards and the Equity and Inclusion Leadership Symposium. Both programs have application deadlines of June 1, 2017.

Full-time VCU faculty are invited to apply for Curriculum Development Awards of up to $10,000 each for courses offered during the 2017-2018 academic year. Funds can be used to support faculty summer salary, course resources, incentives and/or graduate student support or other expenses clearly linked to course enhancement.

You can view the criteria for the Curriculum Development Awards here.

VCU faculty, staff and students are invited to submit proposals for the Equity and Inclusion Leadership Symposium, which takes place on August 18, 2017. The Symposium provides a forum for the VCU community to examine and engage around emerging and challenging topics in diversity, inclusion, equity and access.

You can learn more about the Equity and Inclusion Leadership Symposium here.

Thank you for your support of VCU’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Best wishes,

Michael Rao
President, VCU and VCU Health
