President’s Posts

Michael Rao, Ph.D.

As we take pause in our work and studies to join together with friends and family, I am thankful for the community that makes Virginia Commonwealth University a great place to live, learn, create, and heal.

I am thankful for the diverse population that makes up the university and community and how we all learn from one another. At VCU, we move from tolerating one another to understanding one another.

I am thankful for the faculty, staff, and students who are actively engaged in productive dialogue to propose solutions to the issues we face today. I believe our community has the strength and ability to be agents of positive change.

I am thankful for our alumni. Their hard work as students is part of what paved the path to VCU becoming the respected urban public research university we are today.

I am thankful for VCU’s countless friends, supporters, and donors who have worked to ensure that the university community has high-quality places to live, learn, practice and refine their skills, and heal.

Thank you for being a part of the Virginia Commonwealth University community. You are what makes us so distinctive and for that, I am profoundly grateful.
