April is Alumni Month at VCU
Since 2011, when we launched the Quest for Distinction strategic plan, Virginia Commonwealth University has been on a journey to become one of the nation’s premier urban, public research universities.
Thanks to the talent and vision of you — our dedicated faculty and staff — and the philanthropic support of our alumni and friends, we have indeed become the model for a new research university in America. We are distinctive among our peers because of our commitment to diversity, access, engaging with our vibrant urban environment, and the ways that we make it real.
I believe it’s important that we celebrate our successes. In that spirit, I hope you will join me for a monthlong celebration of our past, present and future, while recognizing those who laid the foundation for us.
April is VCU Alumni Month. As a member of our one university community, you are invited to join in April’s Alumni Month activities, even if you are not a VCU graduate.
To celebrate, all faculty and staff are encouraged to show their VCU spirit by wearing university gear or black and gold to work every Friday in April.
VCU Alumni has collaborated with units throughout the university to pull together more than 50 events on and near campus during April. You can find a complete list at www.vcualumni.org/alumnimonth.
I hope you will take part in some of the exciting Alumni Month events, too, including VCU Alumni Night at The Diamond, RPI, MCV Campus and AAAC Reunions and so much more. Engaging our alumni is vital to the continued growth and development of our university. Please show your support and help spread the word about these opportunities.
